Moro’s Kitchen

Moros Kitchen Skaneateles

Some restaurants announce themselves loudly. Moro’s Kitchen on Jordan Street is not one of those. Instead, it earns its reputation quietly — through consistently excellent food, genuine warmth, and a commitment to doing Italian cooking properly.

Edward Moro — Executive Chef and owner, who also runs Moro’s Table in Auburn — opened the restaurant in 2015. The concept is deceptively simple: your grandmother’s Italian, but with a culinary twist. The goal, as Ed and Beth Moro describe it, is to recreate that feeling of sitting at your grandmother’s kitchen table — welcomed, cared for, and left well-fed. Furthermore, the kitchen delivers on that promise night after night.

The fresh house-made pasta is the heart of the menu and the thing most worth your attention. Pick your pasta and pick your sauce — whether that’s a classic house red, a vodka sauce, a rich mushroom ragù, a roasted red pepper cream, or a basil pesto cream. As a result, you have the kind of simple, satisfying combination that’s hard to improve upon. Beyond the pasta, the eggplant parmesan draws consistent praise. Similarly, the kitchen handles the balsamic glazed salmon with real care. The short ribs, meanwhile, are tender and deeply flavoured. And the calamari makes a reliable starter worth ordering.

Additionally, save room for the house-made gelato. It’s the kind of detail that tells you exactly what kind of restaurant this is — one that takes pride in doing everything properly, right through to the last course. The kitchen also roasts coffee locally, which rounds things off nicely.

The room is small, cozy, and warmly lit. It’s therefore an ideal spot for a date night or a relaxed dinner with people you actually want to spend time with. The atmosphere is subdued enough for a proper conversation, yet lively enough to feel like somewhere people are genuinely enjoying themselves.

Find them at 28 Jordan Street. They’re open Wednesday through Sunday from 4pm to 8pm. Reservations are recommended.
